Register your tour. It's a simple 1. 2. 3.

Planning your group tour.

Please read this information carefully before reserving your tour date(s). Should we be unable to accommodate your tour needs, Texas State offers Self-Guided Tours.

Before you arrive

Group tours are available from 10 am, every Friday morning when classes are in session. Tours are not available during STAAR Testing, Spring Break, University Final Exams, or University holidays.

To provide you with the best possible service, we ask that you register your group at least three weeks in advance. We are only able to accommodate up to 50 students and we require 1 chaperone per every 10 students attending.

We strive to accommodate as many requests as possible; but due to staffing limitations, facility size constraints, and scheduling conflicts, we regret that some request may be declined.

Tour Itinerary

Tours start at 10 am. and may be reserved for 30 mins, 1 hour or 2 hours.  Tours are led by student guides and you will be required to walk up/down steps and on uneven surfaces.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the Texas Weather.

At the end of your tour, you and your group will be asked to complete a short survey, to provide your feedback and insight into the tour process.

Any additional agenda, such as visiting the Meadows Center or exploring the San Marcos area, is the responsibility of the school/organization.

Parking and meals.

Please allow extra time to arrive/depart, as there is ongoing construction both on and outside of the University campus. If you will be arriving in a bus, please let your bus driver know they will be required to park at Bobcat Stadium after dropping your group off at the N. Edward Gary St. P-16 tour stop.

The Edward Gary Garage is located just a few yards away from our Texas State P-16 Center Campus Tour Bus Stop (please refer the map on our website for more information.) Here is a link with directions to the pay-to-park garages on campus:

Due to high traffic and access rights, any buses left on campus will be towed at the expense of the group.

When visiting campus, your group is welcome to eat at one of our campus dining halls.  Please contact Dining Services to purchase meal tickets.  Alternatively, our campus offers a beautiful setting for your outdoor sack lunch.

Please call or email if you have any questions or comments regarding your tour.

If you require accommodations due to an injury or disability in order to participate in your scheduled campus tour, please contact the Center for P-16 Initiatives by emailing at least 72 hours prior to your tour.

Mobility Accommodations

The Texas State campus is wheelchair and scooter accessible, and we will be glad to provide assistance to anyone who needs help finding their way around campus via accessible routes. Regrettably, there is no place on our campus to rent or secure a wheelchair or scooter.

If someone in your party is in need of an interpreter, please contact the Interpreter Coordinator at 512.245.3451.

Driving Directions

If arriving by bus, please inform your driver that all buses must park at Bobcat Stadium after dropping off your group at the N. Edward Gary St. tour stop.

Due to high traffic and rights of access, any buses left on campus will be towed at the expense of the group.

When your registration is complete, we'll send you driving directions with the location of the P-16 tour drop off/pick up point and Bobcat Stadium parking.

Cancellation and Late Policy

Because our office happily invests time and resources to provide tours, we advise you to e-mail the as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel your Large Group Tour. If you do not call ahead to cancel your Large Group Tour, we are not inclined to reschedule your group in the future.

Late Policy

We appreciate that there are circumstances beyond a group's control that may prevent your group from arriving on time. Nonetheless, late arrivals create a ripple affect in our office thus preventing our Center from providing the full campus experience because of other commitments and strategic resource availability.

  • Chaperones must contact the Center for P-16 Initiatives if they foresee being late for a Large Group Tour.
  • Late arriving groups may not be able to participate in all scheduled events.
  • If a Large Group is later than 30 minutes, the scheduled campus tour is forfeited. A Self-Guided Tour option will be provided.
